Frequently Asked Questions
-
When should I schedule my alteration?Schedule your first bridal alteration 8-12 weeks prior to your wedding day. This gives you plenty of time for a second fitting and also any changes you may desire prior to your special day.
-
What should I bring to my alteration? If you plan on wearing it on your big day, we encourage you to bring it to your fitting. That includes undergarments, bustiers, corsets, shapewear, necklaces, and earrings. You are required to bring the shoes you intend on wearing the day of the event. The shoes are a MUST to insure the correct length of your dress.
-
How many fittings will I need?We typically require two fittings for dress alterations. During the first fitting, we will take measurements and pin the garment to determine the necessary alterations. After the initial alterations are made, we will schedule a second fitting to ensure a perfect fit. However, more fittings may be necessary depending on the complexity of the alterations needed. We will work closely with you to ensure your gown fits flawlessly.
-
How long are fittings? Please allow 45- 60 minutes for your first fitting. The second and possible other fittings are typically 30 minutes or less.
-
How long will it take to alter my dress? The total process can take several weeks, sometimes longer during the busiest times of wedding season (March-June). With an average of two fittings, the alteration span can be 6-8 weeks. Dresses requiring more extensive alterations like straps, bust, hips, bustle, etc will take longer. For example, a hem may take only one week. Rush options are available for last-minute alterations. We try our very best to accommodate everyone.
-
Another shop ruined my dress. Can you fix it?Unfortunately, this may happen from time to time and we are here to help. Bring it in and our expert seamstresses can look it over and work their magic.
-
How many sizes can you take in?While every dress is unique and can vary, our experts can usually reduce a dress by 10 sizes.
-
Who can come to my fittings with me?We have room for all your guests. At the final fitting, we recommend you bring whoever will be buttoning your bustle at the wedding. Our seamstresses will demonstrate to you and your guest how the bustle functions on your dress and will also allow time for practice.
